Online learning

Yggdrasil – an information site for study courses

This site has been created with content management system Drupal 6 (as is the Forest of Brocéliande) by KerBabel™. It offers information on individual study papers as ‘Grains’ organized modularly by theme, degree or diploma-type, by partnership type or language. Navigation can be top-down as well as horizontal. It is expected to go LIVE mid 2011. http://Yggdrasil.KerBabel.net

   Teaching Partners and Activities

A site concerning teaching partnerships and partnership activities exists in a prototype and is expected to open in 2011. It has been created by KerBabel™ on behalf of the OVSQ-UVSQ. Created with Drupal 6, it presents “Current Events” classified by various filters, cross-linked to partner profiles. This site could be extended or cloned to cover research as well as teaching activities.

 Babel Gardens

This site is a set of catalogues of documents, teaching resources and websites, organised by research project, institution or collaborative programmes.  This site stocks informative educational resources in a portal created by C3ED’s KerBabel™ and was designed to be particularly useful for students of MASTER SETE but could be adaptable elsewhere. Many fruits linked to the Forest of Brocéliande are stored in this garden. It has multilingual options for navigation and requires user names and passwords to access the knowledge.

The site  provides  material on knowledge mediation  for sustainable development and environmental issues. The 2002 version is likely to be replaced by a new CMS facility in 2012.

   Deliberation Support Tools (SMMAAD)

These project products have been created by REEDS and its research/teaching partners and include VIVIANE, kerALARM (Biodiversity Europe, risks), KerCOASTS (coastal management problems in diverse eco-regions), VGAS. Essentially, they are deliberation support tools, allowing a variety of discovery, learning and analysis, often slanted towards multi-media.  See also information on the Dodecahedron  PART 4

Collaborative Learning Environments/Virtual Learning Communities

Since 2004, virtual learning platform development has continued. The state-of-the-art UNSQ platform for Virtual Learning Community currently under development by the ILEI can also exploit the structure of both Yggdrasil and the Forest of Brocéliande systems for its delivery. It could present teaching course planning and selected resource materials not available elsewhere.

Professional/Commercial teaching services

OVSQ’s e-Learning capacities could be made available commercially to organisations wishing to use innovative learning systems for executive education, professional training, life-long learning, continuing education and inputs into other universities’ degree programmes. Brokering is the responsibility of FONDaTERRA and WIDDOO. It is anticipated that the structure devised for Yggdrasil and the Forest of Brocéliande (pathways and grains) would be the backbone for delivery.
